Dear Friends,
Welcome to my online campaign headquarters.
I am running for Los Angeles City Council to continue and expand what I have achieved for the citizens of the 12th Council District.
I have fought for positive change for our community that has resulted in measurable accomplishments. And, in these difficult budget times, I decided not to take a dime of taxpayer money to fund my campaign.
I
I need your support to improve public safety, fight for Los Angeles’ business community, preserve and protect jobs, and increase the overall quality of life throughout the City.
As your Councilman, I will build on my record which includes:
* Hiring 254 new LAPD Officers without a tax increase
* Stopping the massive Las Lomas development project and protecting open space
* Implementing business tax reform and making Los Angeles more business friendly
* Rebuilding and opening of the Northridge Pool
* Protecting residents by fighting for the expansion of Providence Holy Cross Hospital
* Protecting the environment by working to end our dependency on landfills
Before entering public service, I was a small business owner. I know first-hand what it’s like to sign the front of a paycheck – not just the back. In addition, my experience patrolling the communities of Council District 12 as a Reserve Los Angeles Police Officer provides me with the knowledge about how to keep our streets safe. With a strong background of community service that includes serving as Chairman of the North Valley Family YMCA and being active on the boards of the San Fernando Valley Jaycees, Boys and Girls Club, and Devonshire Police Activities League (PALS), I know how to bring people together.
I am honored that my candidacy has already earned the support of Councilman Greig Smith, District Attorney Steve Cooley, Sheriff Lee Baca, former Mayor Richard Riordan, City Controller Wendy Greuel, Council President Eric Garcetti and former Assemblymember Richard Katz, along with several other local elected officials and prominent local community and Neighborhood Council leaders.
I look forward to working with you throughout the campaign and as your next Councilmember.
Very truly yours,
Mitchell Englander
